Learn to Play

Learn to Play is a program that provides a unique opportunity for families to join the hockey community and for participants to develop fundamental skills to help them succeed both on and off the ice. Created jointly by the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL). Learn to Play’s goal is to inspire youth and welcome more families into the hockey community.

The New York Rangers at Lakeside
Learn to Play Hockey for Beginners or The Rookie League!

Learn to Play – Children learn skating, stickhandling, passing and shooting in a series of 10 one-hour lessons. And that’s not all – FIRST-TIME participants get an exclusive FREE hockey equipment set, tailored perfectly for a young athlete

Rookie League – In this 10-week program, skaters translate newly-learned skills to game play during a weekly one-hour session. The program features one practice session and one cross ice game each week (cross-ice games reduce the ice surface, so skaters get more touches on the ice). Each skater receives his or her very own Junior Rangers Jersey.

All classes are for players aged 5 to 12.
